Sparekassen Kronjylland Headquarters - Randers, Denmark

A Danish bank engaged Kollision to create a distinctive nighttime brand identity for its headquarters, using SGM lighting selected for its ability to deliver both powerful white light and vibrant color from the same fixture.

Lighting today is no longer only about illumination. It has become a powerful medium for communication shaping how architecture is perceived and how brands express themselves.

A HEADQUARTERS IS MORE THAN AN ADDRESS. IT'S A STATEMENT.

At the headquarters of Sparekassen Kronjylland architectural lighting transforms the building façade into a visual extension of the bank’s identity. Designed by the Danish design studio Kollision, the project demonstrates how light can elevate architecture while strengthening a corporate presence in the urban landscape.

By day, the building stands as a confident piece of contemporary architecture. After dark, the façade reveals a new dimension as dynamic lighting activates the building, allowing it to transition between calm white expressions and carefully composed color scenes. The headquarters becomes a living surface - a communication platform capable of reflecting celebrations, events, and seasonal moments while maintaining a refined architectural identity.

The lighting solution is based on SGM fixtures selected for their ability to combine precise white light, saturated color, high output, and precision optics in a single fixture - the POI Graze.

In total, the façade is illuminated by 100 linear grazing fixtures from SGM’s POI family, including 88 units of SGM POI-100 Graze RGBW4K 10° and 12 units of SGM POI-25 Graze RGBW4K 10°. Carefully integrated into the architecture of the façade, the fixtures deliver powerful grazing light that emphasizes the building’s vertical rhythm while maintaining a clean and uniform expression across the façade.

Rather than simply lighting the building, the installation reinforces its role within the cityscape. After sunset, the headquarters becomes a confident landmark - a visible expression of the bank’s identity in the urban landscape.

“Lighting today is an integral part of architectural identity. With this project, the ambition was to create a façade that feels calm and elegant in its everyday expression, yet capable of transforming into something vibrant and communicative when needed,” says Design Studio Kollision.

For Sparekassen Kronjylland, the illuminated façade also reflects the institution’s connection to the city.

“Our headquarters is an important meeting place for customers, employees, and the local community. The lighting helps express who we are as a modern financial institution while creating a welcoming presence in the city after dark,” explains Brian Boldrup Nielsen, Project Manager at Sparekassen Kronjylland.

The result is a headquarters that evolves after sunset - a building that does not disappear in the dark, but instead becomes a confident presence in the city.

A reminder that today, architectural lighting is not only about illumination. It is about identity.
