50 YEARS OF EXPERTISE AND THE RETURN OF THE PALCO SERIES

From humble beginnings in Italy in 1975, SGM Lighting embarked on a journey to make a change in the lighting industry. Founded by Gabriele and Maurizio, the company’s name, Società Gabriele Maurizio (SGM), reflected the close partnership that fueled their shared vision of technological advancement. Gabriele, an electronics engineer with years of experience in manufacturing electronic circuits, recognized early on the immense potential of the emerging lighting market. SGM quickly became a pioneer, making bold decisions that shaped its future.

In the early days, SGM's innovation was evident in the launch of the Galileo series of scanners, which put the company ahead of competitors. The Palco, Galileo, and Giotto models became the cornerstone of SGM’s success, combining cutting-edge technology with in-house development to create fixtures that stood out for their performance and durability.

During the 1980s to 2000s, SGM initially produced lighting effects for the booming nightclub scene in Italy. However, as this market began to decline, the company made a pivotal decision to shift its focus. Recognizing the growth potential of the professional lighting market, SGM redirected its resources towards designing intelligent lights, setting the stage for future growth in the professional sector.

Through continuous research and development, SGM has stayed at the forefront of lighting technology. The company always focused on originality, never copying competitors, and always seeking new innovations. Gabriele’s family-style management approach fostered a loyal team, and SGM's commitment to intelligent technology and high-quality products laid the foundation for its global success.

In 2009, the company relocated to Denmark, marking the beginning of a new era of innovation. As SGM expanded internationally, its products gained recognition for their reliability, performance, and ability to withstand the harshest conditions.

To mark its 50th anniversary, SGM is proud to reintroduce the Palco series. The Palco has been a hallmark of the company’s legacy, and this relaunch reflects SGM's commitment to innovation and the ongoing pursuit of excellence. With the Palco series, SGM continues to honor its past while looking forward to the future of professional lighting.

Today, SGM remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of lighting technology while honoring its roots in Italy. In the autumn of 2024, we proudly joined forces with Golden Sea, a globally recognized leader in lighting manufacturing. By combining Golden Sea’s engineering and production capabilities with SGM’s renowned facilities and innovation hub in Denmark, we’re positioned to deliver premium lighting solutions for the architectural and entertainment industries.

Our partnership with Golden Sea is built on a foundation of mutual respect and shared history. As far back as 2004, Mr. Jiang, the owner of Golden Sea, and his wife, Mrs. Peng, visited the original SGM factory in Italy - a testament to the long-standing connection between our companies.

With a legacy of excellence and a future driven by innovation, world-class engineering, and manufacturing strength, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of lighting design. Here’s to the next 50 years of groundbreaking solutions!

50 YEARS OF ILLUMINATION

For five decades, SGM Lighting has led the way in energy-efficient LED technology, transforming the entertainment lighting industry. From iconic architectural landmarks to world-renowned events, SGM’s solutions have illuminated Circa in Las Vegas, Louis Vuitton in Paris, the Sister Bridges in Pittsburgh, and the striking Frame in Dubai. We’ve powered performances for Adele, Metallica and Beyoncé, lit up Eurovision, and enhanced the spectacle of the Rio Olympics.

In 2013, SGM launched the G-Spot, the industry’s first IP-rated moving head. The market thought it was madness, but it set a new standard - proving that high-performance moving lights could withstand environmental elements without compromise
